Ex-Germany star Frings to'quit'Bremen in May

BREMEN, Germany (AFP)– Ex-Germany star Torsten Frings is set to quit Bundesliga strugglers Werder Bremen at the end of the season, according to Sunday's edition of German daily Bild.

The 34-year-old is reported to have informed the club he will not be extending his contract which expires in June, with Bremen currently just above the relegation zone.

Frings joined Bremen from Bayern Munich in 2005 and won 79 caps for his country, scoring 10 goals.

He played in both the 2002 World Cup final and the Euro 2008 final for Germany, but was dropped by national coach Joachim Loew in October 2008.

Bremen play Bayer Leverkusen at home on Sunday in the Bundesliga.
