MADRID (AFP)– Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that they will play two pre-season friendly matches in China next August.
In a statement on their website, Real revealed they will play Guangzhou Evergrande in Guangzhou on August 3 before tackling Tianjin Teda in Tianjin three days later.
It will be the nine-time European champions' first tour to Asia since 2005, when they also visited China.
"This is more than just a typical pre-season tour for us," said Emilio Butragueno, the former Real forward who is now their director of institutional relations.
"We have more than 100 million fans in China and it is a great opportunity for us to get out here to meet with the fans and thank them for their support."
